Woolworths customers have taken to social media after spotting a bizarre detail in two Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate buys.

Sharing on Reddit, a shopper queried why 360g blocks of the popular chocolate buy were the same price as 180g blocks of the same variety.

The Woolies customer shared an image of the Cadbury display, showing how the vastly different sized items – placed side by side – in fact had identical price tags.

“The Cadbury 360g blocks of chocolate are the same price as the 180g blocks at Woolworths, insane inflation or pricing error?” the Reddit user said.

“The smaller blocks are double the price per 100g, wondering if this is a delayed price point change for the 360g? Probably will be $9 in a week.”

In another social media video, a Woolies customer pointed out the same detail on the Cadbury buys.

“Supermarket maths is a 360g block of chocolate being $6 and then the same type of chocolate, only 180g, also being $6 – but with a $5.50 on sale tag on it,” the shopper, who uses the handle @..emmy.m, said.

“And then calling it customer savings.”

She later added: “Are they the same price cause the shops are planning to up the price of the bigger block?”

A Mondelez Australia spokesperson has told 7NEWS.com.au: “Our retailers set pricing and work hard to deliver great value for Australians through their promotion programs.”

Many social media users agreed that the pricing strategy “doesn’t make sense”.

“That’s bull*** honestly,” one said.

Another added: “That’s the problem with this world. It’s cheaper to eat like crap.”

A third wrote: “I noticed the same thing yesterday.”

One more noted: “It’s exactly like the soft drink. 600ml bottle will be $4 at Woollies yet you’ll be able to buy a 1.25l for $3. People still take the 600ml because the 1.25l is too big and people won’t want to carry it around.”

Another joked: “The easiest decision you’ll make all day.”

Others said it was alarming to see how high chocolate prices had skyrocketed in recent times.

Another wrote: “It doesn’t feel too long ago when the normal Cadbury blocks were $3 to 4 a pop,” one said. “This isn’t some fancy Whittakers chocolate, it’s Cadbury.

“Six dollars was the cost of fancy pants organic chocolate blocks at wholefoods and organic shops too not long ago.”

Another wrote: “Just you wait, the big block will be $12 next week and then half price the week after.”
