Two cheese products sold in five Australian states have been urgently recalled over contamination fears.

Food Standards Australia has issued a new updated alert, advising that That’s Amore Cheese Pty Ltd is conducting a recall of Burrata 125g and That’s Amore Cheese Mini Burrata 120g.

That’s Amore Cheese Burrata 125g has been available for sale at independent grocery Stores in Victoria, New South Wales, Western Australia, South Australia and Queensland.

That’s Amore Cheese Mini Burrata 120g has also been for sale at Coles in Victoria and independent grocery Stores in Victoria and Queensland.

Food Standards Australia said the recalled cheeses could contain listeria monocytogenes.

It advises that cheese impacted by the contamination could expose people to severe illness.

“Listeria monocytogenes may cause severe illness in pregnant women, unborn babies, neonates, the elderly, and individuals who are immunocompromised,” Food Standards Australia said.

“The general population can also become ill from consuming food contaminated with listeria monocytogenes.”

The affected products display the used by dates 22/06/2023. and 23/06/2023.

People who have consumed the product and who are concerned about their health should seek medical advice, it said.

“Customers should return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.”
