Fans of Quality Street chocolates will be in for a surprise when they dig into the brand’s iconic chocolate tubs next year.

The chocolates have been a staple gift for many during the Christmas period for more than 80 years.

There are 11 different chocolates in the Quality Street range, which come in various shapes and flavours.

However customers can expect to see a change in two of the chocolate varieties next year, with Nestlé Oceania confirming the shape of the Purple One (hazelnut flavour) and Orange Crunch (orange flavour), will change to that of the Caramel Swirl.

Instead of being oval and hexagon-shaped, they will now both be round.

The changes to the chocolate shapes in Australia aren’t expected until Christmas 2024.

Regarding whether the flavour of the two chocolates will also change, a spokesperson from Nestlé told 7NEWS.com.au: “It will still be the same great tasting Purple One and Orange Crunch that people know and love inside the iconic coloured wrappers.”

Customers may also notice the usual Quality Street packaging in Australia has recently changed, with the company switching to paper packaging in July this year to decrease its plastic use.

“We’re also starting to transition to new paper-based wrappers inside the tub,” the spokesperson said.

In the UK, the two chocolates will change shape this year in time for Christmas.
