A diner has detailed her shock after a $A28 tuna tartare she ordered at a restaurant didn’t quite match her expectations.

Real estate agent Sophie Bokelmann, from Canada, wanted a quick bite in between her showings so she dropped by the restaurant “looking for something light, nothing too heavy”.

“The waitress recommends a dish that is similar to tuna tartare… like raw tuna crudo,” Sophie said in a now-viral video.

“I’m like, ‘Absolutely, let’s do it’. F*** yes, I love tuna tartare.”

To her horror, she was served an underwhelming dish – which consisted of a tin of cooked tuna on a plate, surrounded by a generous amount of packet potato chips.

“They give me a can of tuna and potato chips,” Sophie said in disbelief.

“A can of tuna. They didn’t even take the tuna out of the can. Fully cooked tuna, too. $CA25. 25 f****** dollars?

“Are you joking? I am shocked. Okay. Is inflation that bad?”

Sophie joked in the caption: “I am shaken.”

Her video has been viewed more than 850,000 times – with many asking Sophie whether she paid for the dish, to which she confirmed: “I sent it back.”

Many expressed their anger on her behalf.

“No freaking way… that’s a robbery,” one said.

Another revealed: “I had this for dinner and it was $6 from the grocery store.”

One suggested: “That’s food fraud. I’d be irate.”

Another shared: “I’m so non-confrontational but I would have given her the wildest look and sent it BACK.”

However, one joked: “I feel like the waitress kept the $CA25 and served you her lunch.”

Another said: “My weekly struggle meal should not cost $25.”

While one added: “I would have laughed and walked out on the spot.”

‘Girl dinner’

Meanwhile, many joked they thought Sophie was showing off her “girl dinner”, an amusing social media trend to describe a snack plate made from randomly assembled food or scraps that doesn’t have to be cooked.

“I thought this was your girl dinner at home,” one said, laughing.

Another joked: “Thought this was homemade girl dinner!”
