In good news for sweet tooths across the country, Woolworths is expanding its bakery range — introducing almost 150 new cakes, cookies, muffins and desserts to stores.
Joining its existing line-up are several new birthday-worthy cakes such as a chocolate birthday drip cake, a caramel cake layered with dulce de leche and a smash cake of treats inside a chocolate dome.
Other new creations include a lemon meringue tart, an oversized choc chip cookie pie and carrot cake muffins.

Woolworths bakery merchandise manager Donald Keith said the products have been in the works for more than 18 months.
“It’s been a tough job but our team taste-tested every product,” he said.
“As part of that process we also ensured our customers were involved in providing feedback and tasting some of the range. We’re now excited all our customers get to experience these new treats.
“We’ve put a lot of thought into our bakery range and a number of our products and cakes are also finished by hand, showing the care that goes into every bite in our bakery.”
Woolworths’ first in-store bakery was launched in 1970.
The new treats are available in stores from Tuesday.
